EUFA to closely follow EU-UK negotiations

The European Fisheries Alliance will closely follow the negotiations on the UK’s withdrawal from the European Union kicking off today in Brussels.  Following the decision of the United Kingdom to leave the European Union,  it is now crucial to provide citizens and businesses in the UK and the EU the legal certainty they need for both our businesses and economies to thrive.

We expect the negotiations to be based on facts and support a mutually beneficial withdrawal settlement. Any potential fisheries agreement must preserve the achievements of the Common Fisheries Policy and maintain a fair system of fish quota distribution. It should also lay the foundation for constructive future cooperation that reflects our interdependence. We stand ready to do our part to contribute to an open and successful future relationship between the United Kingdom and the European Union.
